Sundays- 8:00 AM @ H.B. Pier (32 miles) This is our recovery ride for the week. The pace on the flats is 16-18mph with one rest stop at Bonita Creek Park. This ride follows the same route each week so this is an ideal ride for potential new members to ride along with OCV. Bring money for coffee on Main Street after the ride.
Tuesdays & Thursdays- 6:15 AM @ the corner of Campus and University in Irvine (35 miles) This is a fast pace training ride that is known as Coffee Crew and returns to Pete's Coffee on MacArthur and PCH by 8:00 am. The route includes the back side of Newport Coast and there are no regroup points. The pace out is 25-27 mph and the return pace is 27+mph. This is reported to be the fastest group ride in Orange County. Those interested in doing this ride should contact Doyle Ridenour, doyle@provens.com.
Saturdays-7:30 AM @ Worthy Park (45 to 80 miles) We generally offer an A and B option. The A ride is 60-80 miles at a higher pace (18-24 mph) with some added climbing. The B ride is 40-50 miles with little slower pace (17-21 mph) and fewer hills. There are occasional "out of town" rides throughout the year such as Palos Verdes to work on climbing skills. Route slips are provided for both a long and short ride options. The club regroups at all left turns and there is at least one bathroom/rest stop per ride. The club rotates through approximately 20 different rides each Saturday. The rides will be posted a week in advance on the web site. The club will also occasionally work on group riding skills, such as rotating pace lines. At the end of the ride stay around for coffee & snacks downtown on Main Street. Dress in layers for the cold starts and typical So Cal warming. Don't be late as all rides leave on time! The ride is canceled if streets are wet.
| Note: Ride leaders will contact the membership with any changes. If the scheduled ride leader can't be present, one will be appointed either prior to or at the time of the ride, depending who's present. Check web site for Saturday ride route. |
